Pierre Woodman was born as Pierre André Nicolas Gerbier on April 29, 1963 in the Auvergne region of France. Growing up in modest circumstances, he started working at a very young age and took on various jobs during his teenage years, including bartending and sales work. At 17, he joined the French army, and later transitioned into law enforcement, serving as a policeman in Paris before deciding to change careers and pursue creative work.
In the mid-1980s Pierre made a major shift from uniformed service to the visual arts. Around 1986 he began working as a fashion and television photographer, developing skills in lighting, composition, and directing visual stories. His early career in photography gave him a foundation in working with people in front of a camera and set the stage for his later ventures in film production.
By 1989 Pierre was involved with the launch of Hot Video, a magazine focused on adult media, where he worked as a reporter. This period introduced him to a broader international media world and expanded his experience in both photography and film-related work. His growing reputation enabled him to work with established production groups and take on more ambitious projects.
In the early 1990s Pierre began working with a major international media company, directing films that blended narrative elements with high production values. His work included several multi-part features that were notable for their scope and technical quality. Over several years he developed his own style and gained recognition among peers for his prolific output and work ethic.
During the mid to late 1990s Pierre started producing a long-running series of casting projects. These films focused on on-camera interviews and behind-the-scenes interactions as participants were introduced to the idea of performing. Over time, the number of productions grew into the hundreds, with thousands of individual scenes shot and released internationally, making these projects widely known within their market niche.
